May 28th Webinar:

Surviving and Thriving in an XML World

with Steve Jong and Anna Pratt

Are you using desktop publishing tools? Is your organization considering a move to a DITA/XML environment? To keep things interesting, are they also talking about using a content management system (CMS)? Come, hear about the challenges you’ll face in organizing your material, and the gaps you’ll discover about your skill in creating it. The change from unstructured to structured writing, and the separation of content from formatting, involve significant challenges to our understanding of our work.

Having recently made the transition from FrameMaker/RoboHelp/Word to various project toolsets involving Vasont CMS and XMetaL (Steve), and
Microsoft Team Foundation Server CMS, XMetaL, and Perforce (Anna), Steve Jong and Anna Pratt are supremely qualified to tell us about this process. They will describe the transition they underwent, expose the love-hate relationship you’ll develop with DITA, and share their insights about how to survive and thrive in an XML world.

Steve Jong leads a documentation group at Oracle for a broadband network intelligence product in the telecommunications industry.
Steve is an Associate Fellow of STC. Steve is a former director of STC and a past president of the Boston Chapter.

Anna V. Pratt is a Principal Technical Writer at Kofax, Inc. Not only has she been a member of STC for over 20 years, she’s also served on the Boston Chapter Council as Secretary, as a regional competitions judge, and as Membership Committee Chairperson.
